Last Updated: August 4, 2026
Jahnathan Jones ("we," "us," or "our"), operating as a sole proprietor under his own name, runs the website jahnathanjones.com (the "Site"), an illustration portfolio and commission business. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit the Site, submit a commission or contact request, or make a purchase, how we use and share that information, and the choices and rights available to you.
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide to Us
We collect information you voluntarily give us, including when you:
● Submit a commission request or general message through the Contact page (name, email address, and the details of your message, such as your project idea, subject, and format);
● Sign up to be notified about the Shop or print releases;
● Place an order through the Shop, once available (name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number, and order details — see "Purchases and Payment Information" below);
● Comment on, message, or otherwise interact with us through the Site or through our linked social media accounts (Instagram, Pinterest, X, YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok);
● Correspond with us by email outside the Site.
Purchases and Payment Information
If you purchase a print, original, sticker, or other product through the Shop, your order is processed through Squarespace's e-commerce platform and a third-party payment processor (such as Stripe or PayPal). We receive your name, shipping and billing address, email address, and order details in order to fulfill your purchase. We do not directly collect or store full credit card, debit card, or other payment card numbers — these are collected and processed securely by our payment processor in accordance with its own privacy policy and applicable payment card industry (PCI-DSS) standards.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, certain information is collected automatically through cookies, log files, and similar technologies provided by our website platform, Squarespace, and by third-party analytics tools. This may include:
● IP address and approximate location (city/region level);
● Browser type, device type, and operating system;
● Pages viewed, time spent on pages, referring/exit pages, and click activity;
● Date and time of your visit.
This information is used in aggregate to understand how visitors use the Site and to improve its content and performance. See "Cookies and Tracking Technologies" below for more detail and your choices.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
● Respond to commission inquiries, contact messages, and customer support requests;
● Process, fulfill, and ship Shop orders, and send related confirmations and updates;
● Notify you about product launches, availability, or updates you have requested;
● Maintain, secure, and improve the Site and understand how visitors use it;
● Communicate with you about your commission, order, or inquiry;
● Comply with legal obligations, prevent fraud, and enforce our terms.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
● Service providers: with vendors who help us operate the Site and fulfill orders — currently Squarespace (website hosting, forms, and e-commerce), a payment processor (e.g., Stripe/PayPal), and shipping carriers used to deliver physical products;
● Social media platforms: if you interact with our Instagram, Pinterest, X, YouTube, Facebook, or TikTok accounts, that platform's own privacy policy governs the information you share there;
● Legal and safety reasons: if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Jahnathan Jones, our users, or others;
● Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of business assets, in which case personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site is built on Squarespace, which uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate core site features (such as the shopping cart) and to collect analytics about visits to the Site. These may include first-party cookies set by Squarespace and, if enabled, third-party analytics or advertising cookies.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Note that blocking some cookies may affect the functionality of the Site, such as the shopping cart. Where required by law, we will provide a cookie consent notice with the option to accept or decline non-essential cookies.
5. Third-Party Links and Social Media
The Site links to third-party social media platforms, including Instagram, Pinterest, X, YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok. These platforms operate independently of the Site and are governed by their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party platforms, and we encourage you to review their policies directly.
6. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy — for example, to respond to your inquiry, complete and support a commission or order, comply with tax and accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include the right to:
● Request access to the personal information we hold about you;
● Request correction of inaccurate information;
● Request deletion of your personal information;
● Opt out of marketing communications (e.g., by using the unsubscribe link in any email, or contacting us directly);
● Object to or restrict certain processing of your information;
● Request a copy of your information in a portable format.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in "Contact Us" below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
California Residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended, may give you additional rights, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request deletion, and the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not knowingly share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising outside of standard Site analytics.
European Economic Area, UK, and Other Regions
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with its own data protection law, our legal basis for processing your information is generally your consent (e.g., when you submit a form), the necessity of processing to fulfill a contract (e.g., an order), or our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site. You may have additional rights under applicable law, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children's Privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
9. Data Security
We rely on Squarespace's platform-level security measures and our payment processor's PCI-DSS compliant handling of payment data to help protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Users
The Site is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate, which may have data protection laws different from those of your country.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will post the updated policy on this page with a revised "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of the Site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
12. Governing Law
Jahnathan Jones operates as a sole proprietor based in California. This Privacy Policy, and any dispute arising from it or from your use of the Site, is governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles, except where applicable federal or other state/international privacy laws (such as the CCPA or GDPR, described above) grant you additional rights based on your own location.
